Ski trip to Montafon, Austria
Alle Koffer gepackt, Alle Ausrüstungen einsatzbereit und verstaut.
So ging es am Donnerstag den 17.02.2021 los. Wir waren auf den Weg ins Montafon, nach Sankt Gallenkirch, in Österreich.
Unsere Fahrt betrug fast 3
Stunden.
Wir haben uns dazu entschieden die Route über den Bodensee zu nehmen, da sie tags-, nachtsüber sehr idyllisch ist zu fahren. Dazu kommt noch, dass nicht so viel Stau ist wie über die Autobahnhauptstraßen.
In Österreich angekommen, mussten wir uns erstmal orientieren und schauen, dass wir den Weg zur Unterkunft finden.
Endlich gefunden!, wir realisierten dass wir ein Volltreffer an einer Unterkunft gelandet haben. Unsere Unterkunft befindet sich direkt an der Talabfahrt, wo wir jeden Abend direkt durchfahren. Von dort aus betrug unsere Unterkunft eine Straße und ein paar Meter Bergauf, bis wir da waren.
Unsere Unterkunft ist wunderschön. Wir haben ein wunderbares Bergpanorama zur Aussicht. Leider hat unsere Unterkunft nur ein großes Schlafzimmer, deshalb musste ich auf einer Ausziehcouch in unserer Küche im Aufenthaltsraum schlafen. Das Apartment ist klein, aber bequem und gemütlich gestaltet, und perfekt für drei.
6-tages Skipass leicht gemacht!
Wir haben uns die *Silvretta Montafon App* runtergeladen, um uns den 6 tages Skipass für 280€ gekauft ( ganz einfach bezahlt per online banking/ PayPal ).
Mit der Bestätigungsmail kam ein QR-Code, den man vor Ort an einem Automaten einlösen muss, damit man das Ticket bekommt.
Ein weiterer Bonus der App war das Angebot, alle Impfzertifikate (Covpass) einzutragen. Da wir hier in Deutschland und Österreich überall einen Impfnachweis benötigt oder vorzeigen müssen in jedem Geschäft. Das war sehr praktisch.
Die Ski Tage
Unsere Wettervorhersage für unseren Urlaub war ganz und garnicht gut. Es stand viel Regen, Nebel und unangenehmes Wetter auf dem Programm.
Jedoch kam alles anders. Die ersten beiden Tage waren viel zu warm, auch auf dem Berg oben. Die Temperaturen betrugen um die 7grad (C). Bei den Temperaturen war natürlich die Schneequalität nicht die idealste. Es war sehr sulzig und matschig. Nach einem Tag wurde es wieder etwas kälter und windiger. Somit konnte es nachts auch wieder anfrieren.
Der zweite Tag war der schönste, mit überwiegend blauem Himmel und vielen Sonnenstunden. Doch das war eine einmalige Sache, denn am nächsten Tag war Hochnebel und viel Wind im Programm, sehr unangenehm und zu fahren. Ohne viel Sicht und dazu nicht der beste Schnee, sehr eisig von dem warmen Wetter zuvor. Bei der Hälfte unseres Urlaubes war Samstags bei unserer Apres Ski Hütte immer Nachtrodeln auf dem Programm, daher hatte die Bar länger wie 17.00 offen. Normalerweise hat die Talabfahrt ab 17.00 zu, da sie die Pisten preparieren abends. Doch Samstags nicht. Daher hatten wir einen schönen längeren Feierabend. Den wir in der Hütte ausgiebig feierten. Die Hütte war sehr idyllisch, sehr bequem und Alpenstyle mäßig eingerichtet. Man fühlt sich dort direkt wohl. Das beste an der Hütte ist die Glasfront, mit der zum Tal gerichteten Seite. Dadurch bietet sie einen sehr umfangreichen Panoramablick. Einfach klasse zum genießen und verweilen! Am Sonntag war der Nachbarberg auf unserer To-Do-Liste “Das Grasjoch“. Allerdings war auch schon da sehr viel Nebel und Wind auf dem Programm. Unsere Gondel hielt auf dem Weg auch etliche male an. Zum Glück hatten meine Freunde ein Gondelritual. Dies war, den Song „Jack Sparrow - von LeftBoy“ und Süßigkeiten essen auf dem Weg hoch und runter. Das hat unsere Stimmung sehr gehoben und unsere Motivation trotz dem Wetter verbessert.
Die letzten eineinhalb Tage starteten ziemlich stürmisch.
Morgens um halb 9 an der Talstation angekommen, liefen erstmal keine Lifte. Da zu der Zeit bei uns in Deutschland ein großer Sturm zugange war, und das auch Auswirkungen im Nachbarland hatte. Daher war es sehr stürmisch und unangenehm, mit Graupelschauer, Hagel und heftigen Windböen. Nach 2h in der Markthalle gewartet und 3 Kaffees später, gab es erstmal das „GO“ für die Ski Lehrer. Und schwups waren wir um 11 aufm Berg.
Aber die Bahn fuhr nur zur Mittelstation, und zu dem Zeitpunkt war nur eine kleine Anzahl an Liften offen.
Aber dies weitete sich den restliche Tag über. Der restliche Tag verlief sehr friedlich mit sehr wechselhaftem aber großteils angenehmen Wetter. Nachmittags sind wir früher ins Tal gefahren um in unserem Ort (Sankt Gallenkirch) noch ein bisschen Shoppen zu gehen und Mitbringsel für unsere Familien einzukaufen.
Abends bestellten wir zur Feier des Tages, unseren letzten Abend eine Pizza.
Unser letzter Tag fing erstmal mit Auto packen an.
Nachdem alles verstaut war, richteten wir uns und waren schon auf dem Weg zur Bahn.
Auch Heute am letzten Tag wollte das Wetter uns kein Geschenk machen. Er startete zwar noch harmlos aber entwickelte sich über den Tag zum weitaus unangenehmste Tage überhaupt. Nach 5h durchfahren hatten wir genug und nahmen die Talabfahrt und waren auch schon auf dem direkten Heimweg. Doch was fehlt??… genau, in der Markthalle an der Talstation Sankt Gallenkirch befindet sich ein Foodtruck, mit den besten Alpendönern in ganz Österreich. Brot aus Kartoffelkrustie, Füllung vegetarisch oder mit Fleisch und in 3 verschiedenen Varianten. Die Pommes auch, sehr auswahlreich mit Rosmarin oder Knoblauch. Die Döner gibt es in 3 Menüs. Einfach genial und super lecker und definitiv ein Versuch Wert.
Frisch gestärkt konnte die Heimreise nun entspannt los gehen, wir waren nach 3h fahrt endlich wieder alle zuhause und super müde von dem langen Ski Tag.

Bags ready and all of our stuff packed away in the car.
That was the happy beginning of our roadtrip to „Sankt Gallenkirch, Austria“.
We started driving at Thurstay (17.03.2021) afternoon. We had a long ride, about 3h long.
We decided to take the aesthetic route next to the Lake of Constance, because there is’t that much traffic as on the main highways.
Finally arrived, we had to make sure we’re on the right way to our place, where we’re staying the next 6 days. Once we were there we realized that our place is fantastic. Because it is near the main valley slope down the mountain, where we’re riding down every afternoon. Our place from the main down slope is literally up a hill, up the road and then the little apartment with a great view to our great main mountain.
Our apartment is design for max 3 people. It got one master bedroom, a bathroom, a kitchen with a living room and a sleeping couch on it. That couch was my bed for the week. It was very comfy. We just had to manage our storage room in the kitchen or closet. The apartment was great for us 3.
How we got our 6-days ski tickets?
During booking our stay, we downloaded the app for our ski area *Silvretta Montafon App*
On the app we chose the length and the date of our stay and booked our pass online. We could pay with online banking PayPal or credit card. (PayPal as well)
With the confirmation mail came a QR-Code, which we hade to scann, once we were there. Now we could get our 6-day ski ticket. We can scann it, once we’re in the valley station down in the town in austria.
A additional thing was, that we were able to scann our covid vaccines (covpass app) in the *Silvretta Montafon App* to be able to use any lifts in the area.
The ski days
Our weather forecast for the week wasn’t very promising. It was a lot of rain and unpleasant weather predicted.
But the weather had it’s own mind.
At our first two days, the temperature was very warm, even on the top . It was around 7 degree (C) and the snow quality was bad, very soggy and wet. The snow began to melt partly. At the second night the temperature got colder and the snow finally froze thew the night again. The second day was the best of all, with a lot of sun and no clouds. But that was a one-day thing.
The next day it was very windy and a lot of high fog up in the mountains. The conditions for this day were pretty bad, with little of seight and very icy.
But somehow in the late afternoon the sun came threw partly. It made it a little bit better.
Half way threw our holliday, at saturday our favorite bar had a great afternoon Apres Ski party, because this day the main slope down to the valley is long open. Normally it closes at 5pm, but saturday it is open till 10pm. So this day we got to party a bit, but we had to be able to find our way down to the town with our skies. The mountain bar was very beautiful and comfy decorated in the alpine style. The best part of this hut was the glass window in front of the mountain panoramic view. It was incredible to see a mountain sunset like this.
At Sunday we got to the neighboring mountain „Grasjoch“. But unfortunately the view was so bad. So foggy and windy and snowy. This was a quick visit. But our ride up was so slow because of the wind. Luckily my friends have a ritual the do, every time they take this lift. It was listening to the song „Jack Sparrow from LeftBoy“ and eating candy. So that was very nice and motivating. Because my mood was very down, cause of the bad weather and the coldness.
The last two days started very bad.
When we arrived at the town station, to take the lift up, we ran into a closed station. Only the market hall was open, where we drank coffee and waited the bad weather out. Played some games and chilled a bit. There was a big storm happening up in germany and the side effects landed here in austria. There was a storm going on for 2h or so.
Finally the ski instructors got the big „GO“ and a hour later we were finally up in the mountain. But the gondola was only going to the middle station, so we hadn’t had that much choices for lifts to take. Because there were just a little selection open. In the afternoon we took an early ride down to the town, because we wanted to shopping in the town.
To bring some gifts for our families and other friends.
To celebrate our last evening we order some pizza and had a blast.
Starting our last day, we began with packing up our car. Once we were ready and changed to go skiing we went up for a couple of hours.
But the weather turned to get one of the badest of all. Very windy and cold and partly snow. After 5h of skiing we finally took the valley slope one last time, got changed and hit the road.
But.. there is something missing.. oh yeah… we wanted to eat first. So we went to the market hall to the famous „Sankt Gallenkirch Foodtruck“ and got their famous alpin kebab it is available in 3 different categories. The styles are, veggie style and two different meat styles. It is very incredible and taste amazing. It isn’t describeable so go on and try theirs!
The bread is a big potato wedge, the inside is one of their three menus. The fries you can get with rosemary, garlic or natural. (Look at my pictures there are their menus). After eating, we finally took off and hit the road for 3h.
We arrived exhausted and tired from the ski day at home.
We had a great time.
